PolaTab Elite Q10.1 Octa Core Tablet

A blast from the past with the PolaTab Elite Q10. Most Tablets within this price range have nowhere near the specification that the PolaTab Elite Q10.1 has. It's actually quite surprising that this model is being sold so cheap. This is great news for buyers who are looking for a great spec Tablet for peanuts. So, why is it so good. Well, first off it's a 10 Inch Octa Core Tablet with 1GB RAM and has Android Lollipop installed.

The Octa Core Processor consists of eight 2.0Ghz Cores. With many Tablets that are around the same price, or in many cases actually more expensive, the Cores are not operating at 2Ghz each. They are more commonly integrated with 1.2Ghz, 1.3Ghz and 1.4Ghz Cores. And a lot of those Tablets are Quad Core (4 Cores) not Octa Core (8 Cores) like the Elite Q10. Considering the overall build specification in general, this is a seriously fast and extremely capable Tablet for the price. This model has now been discontinued. I recommend either a Neocore E1, or the Amazon Fire 7 if on a very tight budget.

The PolaTab Q10 is also multilingual and can be changed to almost any language. Apparently, the PolaTab Elite is already Rooted. So you get total freedom, total access. Please Note: Some users are reporting that the Rooting of this device was not completed correctly. This could lead to problems down the line with Apps that require Root access.

On a positive note, the Allwinner Octa Core A83T Processor is great for media applications like playing games, watching / streaming films, and also easily powerful enough to handle a heavy workload of multiple Apps and browser windows all being open at the same time. If you want a fast, efficient Tablet for a cheap price this is one worth considering depending on your requirements and budget.

How much better is Octa Core compared to Quad Core?

Lets not get carried away with Octa Core Processors in general. Both are good. While having 8 Cores to play with is better than the 4 in the Quad Core (Dependant on a quite a few factors like clock rates, how advanced the processors are, what year were they brought out etc), tests have shown that the difference in performance (With both types running at similar or exact clock rates and being the same exact processors) between the two is not that much different.

Yes, the Octa Core performed slightly better in the tests, but it was not double the performance power of the Quad Core. It's actually nowhere near. Things get much more confusing when comparing different Processors of different brands, made in different years and having different Clock rates, build architecture and clock cycles.

Which one is better? How long is a piece of string! However, rest assured, with the 8 Cores in this model being 2.0Ghz a piece it makes the PolaTab Elite fast and efficient. Whatever way you look at it, lots of cores, decent amount of RAM and a high clock rate equals: It's more than capable of providing a great user experience.

As usual with cheaply priced Tablets the camera quality is rather poor. The front camera is only 0.3 mega pixels and the back camera is 2 megapixels. Build quality isn't the best in the price bracket. The screen quality has made a few buyers unhappy due to it not having good visibility / contrast when viewed from certain angles. In fact, most one star reviews are regarding the screen quality, which given the spec of this Tablet, is a let down.

It's a shame that PolaTab didn't fit this model with a better screen, one with IPS. But for such a low price corners have to be cut somewhere. If good screen quality is a feature you definitely need get a Tablet with an IPS screen like an Amazon Fire. Or spend a bit more money and get something like a Lenovo Multimode Yoga 10" Full HD Tablet or a.Samsung Galaxy Tab E with TFT screen.

Would I buy the PolaTab Q10?

For the price it was a good device in its day (now sold out). But personally, I like a good quality screen, and after reading some of the reviews, I don't think I would get that with this particular Tablet. So, no matter how good the specification sounds, if I only had a very low amount to spend I would probably go for either a NeoCore Tablet instead [review here].

Even though the cheaper models don't have IPS or HD quality screens, the overall better reviews regarding screen quality, and having used both models first hand, would win me over rather than taking the chance buying the PolaTab and being left disappointed. Or, as an even cheaper alternative if tablet size isn't a deal breaker for you, even a 7" Amazon Fire is worth considering due to how cheap they are in 2021.

But, If you are tempted to buy the PolaTab Elite Q10 the good news is if you're not happy with it you only have to send it back to PolaTab or Amazon. Both of which are located in the UK. So buy it, give it a whirl, and see what you think. You might be one of the hundreds of customers who left a positive review and think this Tablet is outstanding for the price. If you beg to differ after giving it a try just send it back.
